I have new babies in the house. Not people babies, but seed babies. The first picture was taken last week. They are growing so fast. My cats love them too! They love them a little too much. I'm finding victims regularly. I can't keep the cats away. I should transplant them outdoors for their own safety!
The sad little headless stem.
Here is another one.
This is one of the pumpkin seedlings with it's first true leaves.
They don't often all occupy the same space.
During the middle of the night last Friday, all our cats got out. We found a hole in the screen the next morning. JB and Bitty came back later that day, but not Delilah. She is the most street smart of the bunch, so initially we weren't worried. As night fell, our concerns escalated. Sunday was rough, she had never been gone that long. We love our cats, some say too much. By Sunday night we discussed plans for posters and visiting the Humane Society and local vets.
We spent Monday picking up fliers from Leandra (thanks) and posting them, checking the shelter and calling friends. The paper and the radio were also contacted.
This morning I woke around 4am worried about my cat. Unable to sleep I came into the living room. A few minutes later I heard meowing. It didn't sound like Delilah, but I thought I would check it out anyway. The meowing was coming from the roof. There she was, not sounding at all herself, still wearing her collar, on the edge of the roof.
JT headed up to the roof deck, after I woke him, and Delilah ran to him. She even let me hug her, briefly. JB and Bitty treated her like some foreign kitty for about 2 hours, then everything was back to normal. She didn't look like she had been roughing it for the past few days, she wasn't hungry but was very thirsty.
Today we will spend calling people to let them know Delilah has been found and taking down fliers.
I walk into my bedroom and this was what I found. I am pretty sure a kid was involved in setting this up.
Bitty refused to move this afternoon while I made my bed. She only once opened her eyes to show her annoyance.
Leandra and Will got JT a new Beta for his birthday. JT has named him Blue. We have quickly discovered that our murderous kitty JB has developed a taste for fresh fish. We have moved Blue several times and now he is living in my desk. This morning I woke to find two gargoyles on top of my desk, and one was up to no good.
Apparently JB is a big fan of this holiday, or it may be that he just loves balloons. He didn't want to pop it, just take it everywhere and play with the string.
After my GS meeting last night I came home to find that our kitty, James Bond, had taken his name a little too seriously. Yesterday was not a good day for the kitten. He had to go without food because he was being neutered. The vet told us to wait until after 8pm to feed him. Unfortunately, he couldn't wait and decided that Enrique, our Beta, was food. Enrique was on a high shelf that none of the cats had ever been able to get too, but hunger and a complete disregard for family allowed JB to knock the bowl off and eat Enrique.
The night wasn't without danger for our little murderer. We found the bowl without Enrique, but couldn't find the guilty cat. Until, I decided I was hungry and needed a yogurt. He had sneaked in the fridge the last time the door had been opened. Poor thing was cold and his heart was pounding. Quite a day.
OK, I try not to torture people with too many pictures of my cats, but I got a new camera and thought now was the time. JB loved the new lens, because it moved. It was really difficult to take a shot of him, so I gave up and settled for the one with his nose not on the lense. Bitty is in Brent's room, as usual, soaking up some New Mexico sunshine. Delilah is looking beautiful. OK, no more cat pictures for awhile. Thanks for indulging me.
Here is our new ornament this year. We picked it up at the market in Las Cruces last Saturday. She is an angel chili. Pretty cute. We didn't get a new ornament last year because our tree was 12 inches tall.

Bitty is in love with Christmas, mostly the two gingerbread people. She likes to lay on them and doesn't want to be bothered. The other two cats don't go up there at all.
We decorated the trees the weekend after Thanksgiving. We didn't even try to get real ones this year. I have no idea how much they would cost here anyway. Our house is cozy, that means small, and these two trees are tiny and fit perfectly. We got them when JT was overseas and I wasn't going to get a tree by myself. They are really a little pathetic, but look pretty when all decorated. Though the gold one is leaning a little. This is probably because James Bond thinks they are toys we set up for him and he is always being ripped out of the trees.

This wine bottle was the one I got with my gift card for winning the GS chili cookoff. It is handpainted with snowflakes. We bought the glass topper and oil lamp wick to convert it to an oil lamp after we fininshed it. Thank you Rebecca!
