No, my eMachine desktop didn't die, though that is what I've been praying for. I just decided 30+ minutes for my computer to start is too long and luckily my husband was on the same page. We are still going to use the desktop for the kids language and typing programs. Everything else will be taken off and hopefully it will run OK.
I got a lovely HP laptop that I am quite pleased with. I wasn't the only one to be made happy; we got notebooks for the kids. They have Works and the Internet, which is all they need. They love them.
This morning I decided to adapt a banana muffin recipe I use a lot to pancakes. I often make muffles ( muffins cooked on my waffle iron) but I wanted pancakes this morning. I just reduced the sugar and increased the milk. They turned out nicely. Hopefully the smell of hot pancakes and coffee will wake my family up.
Today we spent the day in Las Cruces celebrating our Anniversary. It was very laid back and relaxed, we managed to fit in a trip to Home Depot. We spent the morning having coffee and walking the local farmers market. I got a cute retro apron. I love aprons. We were also able to go to Old Mesilla and check out all the shops. It was so nice to just relax and chat with my hubby.
Generally, hiding from the rain is not something that has to be done much here in beautiful, sunny New Mexico, but today was an exception. Usually I meet friends at the park and our kids run around and release a lot of pent up energy. Today everyone cancelled, but me and another brave mother decided to move the party indoors and storm the local BK.
My husband, who is off today, joined us and I was reminded that he really wasn't around much when the kids were little. He worked a lot then. My friends children range in age and the twins are under 1. There was messes, spit-up and lots of noise. My husband looked more than a little uncomfortable. It was hilarious.
Recently GS had a SU meeting that I was unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict. During this meeting SU positions needed to be filled. As much as I enjoyed doing events this year I still cannot see how committing to GS for next year as a SU team member will fit into my home/homeschooling schedule. I hope in the future to donate my time more fully in volunteer opportunities after my children no longer need so much of it. Missing the meeting wasn't my goal, but since I had no intention of taking one of the positions, I don't think it is a big deal.
I am planning to continue as troop leader. The girls seem to be having a good time and so is Callie. The whole group seems to have a new fresh attitude. I think Leandra is a huge reason for the turn around. I owe her lunch.
I love this shot. A reminder that no matter how lush the setting, the desert is never far away.
During the 5K walk we game across this statuary. I loved it but didn't think of taking a picture. However we were able to find it again the next day before heading to the zoo. The owners were in the yard, but didn't mind me taking a pic.
